Grêmio lose Marlon to muscle injury, out of next three matches | OneFootball

Grêmio will be without left-back Marlon for the next three matches after he sustained a muscle injury.

According to Globo.com, the 29-year-old number 23 had been playing through pain and will now undergo treatment to avoid a longer lay-off.

He will miss Vasco on 12 September, Botafogo on 16 September and Palmeiras on 20 September. A Fifa international break follows. With Grêmio not back in action until seven October against Remo, the expectation is that he will be fit to return for that game.

Marlon already sat out the defeat to Vitória because of suspension. In March he underwent surgery on his right ankle and only returned 129 days later.

In his absence, Luís Castro is likely to select Pedro Gabriel at left-back, with Caio Paulista an option. The Tricolor also lose Pavón to suspension, with Jovane Cabral, Enamorado and Tetê vying for the attacking berth. Grêmio face Vasco on Saturday at 16:00 at the Arena.
