Grêmio have set an internal deadline to settle outstanding debts to players, suppliers, agents and other clubs, with Martin Braithwaite among those owed following his 2024 arrival.
According to Gremistas.net, the sum due to the centre-forward is about R$ seven million in signing-on fees guaranteed in his contract.
The new leadership intend to resolve all outstanding obligations by the end of this month. They are also under a FIFA sanction preventing new registrations because of a claim from Granada over the purchase of striker Arezo, about R$ six million.
The club is due to receive funds from the sale of youngster Alysson to Aston Villa. Although the deal was agreed in instalments, Grêmio are seeking to advance the full amount via an investment fund to pay bills by year-end.
Braithwaite’s debt was rescheduled in August, but only the first instalment, due in September, was paid. The forward has been awaiting the resumption of payments.
