Grêmio are set to receive at least R$ 1.3 million after Weverton and Balbuena were called up for the World Cup under FIFA’s club benefits programme.

According to Globo.com, FIFA will pay US$ 5,000 per day per player in 2026, roughly R$ 25.6 thousand, with the counting period starting on Monday, 1 June.

If Brazil go out in the group stage, their final match is on 24 June against Scotland. That would keep Weverton with the squad for 24 days, worth about R$ 614.4 thousand to Grêmio.

Paraguay’s last group game is on 25 June against Australia. In that case Balbuena adds one more day, taking the club’s income to around R$ 640 thousand for him. These sums would rise if the teams go further.

These combined figures will not be definitive. FIFA will also calculate payments for time players were released during qualifying at US$ 2.36 thousand per player per match, around R$ 12 thousand, to be settled in the second half of the year. During the cycle, Grêmio had call-ups for Villasanti with Paraguay, Suárez and Cristian Olivera with Uruguay, Noriega with Peru, Soteldo with Venezuela, and Aravena with Chile.

Brazil beat Panama 6-2 last Sunday and face Egypt this Saturday in their final friendly before the World Cup. Their opener is on 13 June against Morocco. Paraguay defeated Nicaragua 4-0 on Friday, with Balbuena introduced at half-time, and begin on 12 June against the United States.
