Groningen host FC Twente in the Eredivisie on Sunday, 6 September 2026 at Euroborg, with both sides on six points and looking to climb from mid-table.
The hosts sit 10th and the visitors 9th after the opening rounds. Last season brought a 1-1 draw in Groningen before FC Twente edged the reverse 2-1.
Groningen opened with wins over Utrecht and ADO Den Haag, then lost at PSV and at home to Fortuna Sittard. FC Twente arrive off back to back league victories, beating PEC Zwolle 3-1 and winning 4-1 at Cambuur, and they also overturned Qarabağ with a 4-1 away win after losing the home leg.
Dick Lukkien is without Marco Rente, Rijk Janse, Tyrique Mercera, Yénio Holder and Ryan Metu. John van den Brom is missing Kristian Hlynsson and Stav Lemkin.
Twente may look to control the ball, averaging 62% possession with 87.44% passing and sharp open play crossing at 27.42%. Groningen have scored nine times in four league games but are yet to keep a clean sheet, a balance the visitors' seven goals in three could exploit. Brynjolfur Willumsson leads the hosts with three league goals, Thom van Bergen has two goals and two assists, while Sondre Ørjasæter has supplied two assists for the visitors.
A win would take Groningen to nine points and could nudge them towards the top half. FC Twente would also reach nine points from four matches and could consolidate a top half spot while pushing towards the qualification play-off places.
