Pep Guardiola insists that Manchester City will accept the FA’s decision about Rodri’s comments after their 2-2 draw against Tottenham.
The midfielder vented his frustration with the referee, Robert Jones, after Dominic Solanke’s first goal was allowed to stand, despite the striker appearing to kick through Marc Guehi in the process of scoring.
Rodri said after the game: “I know we won too much and the people don’t want us to win, but the referee has to be neutral.
“It’s not fair because we work so hard. When everything is finished, you are frustrated.”
Manchester City had been 2-0 up against Spurs at the time of the goal, however, Solanke’s brace ensured that they left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with one point instead of three.
“It’s the first goal they score, maybe if they don’t score this goal we win the game.” he added.
“It’s one game and another game and another game and it’s not possible.
“Honestly, I never speak about referees, I respect their job massively. But they have to pay attention to these things.
“He (Solanke) kicked the leg, it’s so clear… It’s two, three games in a row and I don’t know why.”
Rodri is being accused of acting in an “improper manner” by making comments that “imply bias and/or question the integrity of a match official”.
He has until 18 February to respond to the charge.
Guardiola was asked how Manchester City will respond to the charges, but says he has “no idea,” after his side’s 1-1 draw against Salford in the FA Cup.
“Absolutely, we’ll accept the decision of the FA,” he added. “We accept everything that the big hierarchies decide about how you have to behave and what you have to do.”
