Guéla Doué (23) has arrived in Leverkusen ahead of completing a move to the Bundesliga giants, as per a report from L’Équipe.
Désiré Doué’s older brother didn’t feature for the Alsatians in their 2-1 home Ligue 1 win against Lens. Doué is the latest key Strasbourg player to leave La Meinau this summer, following in the footsteps of Valentin Barco, Diego Moreira and Abdoul Ouattara. The right-back initially joined Strasbourg from Ligue 1 rivals Rennes in a €6m deal.
Carles Martinez Novells’ Bayer Leverkusen were in the market for a right-back given they are short of options in this area, with only the 35-year-old Lucas Vazquez as the sole available option. Bayer Leverkusen have splashed the cash on Ligue 1 players this summer, including a combined €52m on Afonso Moreira and Facundo Medina.
Doué is now set to be the latest to arrive. Not including bonuses, L’Équipe understands the deal to be worth €30m. The defender is now undergoing his medical ahead of completing the switch.
