According to Nosso Palestra, Palmeiras completed Tuesday’s session at the Academia de Futebol for Wednesday’s 19:00 CONMEBOL Libertadores last-16 first leg against Cerro Porteño at Nubank Parque. Centre-back Gustavo Gómez, still in physical transition, trained with the group throughout and should reinforce the starting side.
The final workout focused on build-up play, crosses, finishing and tactical work, ending with a light recreational game. Bruno Fuchs, also in transition, worked separately on the pitch with fitness staff, while right-back Khellven and forward Paulinho trained on the grass with physiotherapy.
After training, Jhon Arias looked ahead to the tie. He called the Libertadores one of the club’s main targets, noted they know Cerro Porteño from the group stage and said the team arrive ready to seek a first-leg advantage.
Arias stressed the importance of winning again at home and urged supporters to back the side for the full 90 minutes. He has 31 appearances and eight goals since joining Palmeiras.
This is the most played international fixture in Libertadores history with 18 meetings. Palmeiras lead the head-to-head with 10 wins, five draws and three defeats, having also faced Cerro Porteño in group stages in 1999, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2023, 2025 and 2026, and in last-16 ties in 2018 and 2022, both times progressing.
Arias also addressed Monday 10’s earthquake in Colombia, saying his native Chocó was badly affected and that he has mobilised help. He chartered a plane with healthcare professionals and medical supplies, opened donation channels through his foundation with family support, and Palmeiras amplified the appeal on social media.
