Haissem Hassan tipped to overcome Celtic ‘cult hero’ after Real Oviedo switch | OneFootball

Haissem Hassan has only just arrived at Celtic, but Spanish football expert Sid Lowe believes the winger already has the ingredients to become a “cult hero” at the Hoops.

The Egypt international has made the move from Real Oviedo to bolster Martin O’Neill’s attacking options, with Celtic supporters eager to discover exactly what their new signing can offer.

Lowe, a respected British journalist and author based in Spain who is best known for his coverage of Spanish football for The Guardian, has now provided an intriguing assessment of Hassan.

Responding to questions from Celtic supporters following the winger’s departure from Oviedo, Lowe predicted plenty of entertainment — although he warned there could also be moments of frustration.

Writing on X, Lowe said: “Loads of Hassan questions from Celtic fans among you…. I’ll miss him, I’m excited (for you) and, although he may (will) frustrate you too, if it goes well he will be a lot of fun too. Cult hero in the making, maybe.”

That mixture of excitement and unpredictability could make Hassan an intriguing addition to O’Neill’s squad as Celtic look to add another dimension to their attack.

The winger gives the Hoops another option alongside Hyunjun Yang and Camilo Duran, while Jota is also edging closer to his long-awaited return from injury.
