The Egypt international finally completed his move from Real Oviedo this week, with reports earlier in the summer suggesting the overall deal could cost the Hoops as much as £9million.
However, a fresh breakdown from Spain paints a different picture.
According to La Voz de Asturias, Celtic have committed an initial fee of around €5.5m, with Oviedo potentially receiving a further €2m in performance-related add-ons.
That would take the total package towards €7.5m should all the additional payments be triggered.
Oviedo are also reported to have secured a 20 per cent sell-on clause, although crucially that would apply only to any profit Celtic make on a future Hassan transfer rather than the entire fee.
The Spanish side will not pocket all of Celtic’s initial payment either. Villarreal are reportedly entitled to 40 per cent of Oviedo’s profit after selling Hassan to them for around €700,000 in 2024.
On a €5.5m initial Celtic payment, that would leave Oviedo with a profit of roughly €4.8m before Villarreal receive their share, helping explain reports in Spain that Oviedo will ultimately bank around €3.6m at this stage.
For Celtic, the most significant detail is the relatively modest guaranteed fee compared with the £9m figure previously discussed.
Any further payments would seemingly be tied to Hassan delivering sufficiently to activate the bonuses, while Oviedo would benefit from their sell-on clause only if his value increases and Celtic eventually sell him for a profit.
Celtic have not officially disclosed the financial details of the transfer, meaning the figures remain unconfirmed, but the latest reports suggest the immediate outlay for Hassan is significantly lower than initially believed.
