Dietmar Hamann does not believe Harry Kane will set a new goalscoring record. The TV pundit believes the Bayern star will have to contend with a lack of goals in the second half of the season
Harry Kane has delivered world-class figures for FC Bayern so far. 19 goals after 15 Bundesliga games, a total of 30 goals in 25 competitive matches – yet Dietmar Hamann does not believe that the English goalscorer will have a historic season. The TV pundit put forward a theory on Sky that has provided plenty of food for thought

In a joint interview with Lothar Matthäus, Hamann ventured a clear prediction: „No, Kane will not break Lewandowski’s record and will end up with 26 goals at the end of the season,“ explained the former international. Conversely, this means that Hamann believes Kane will only score seven more goals in the current Bundesliga season
A statement that sounds abstruse in view of Kane’s rate so far. The 32-year-old is currently scoring almost at will and is the offensive heart of Bayern. Nevertheless, Hamann obviously sees reasons why the attacker’s goal run will not continue at this pace
Matthäus has a completely different view. The record-breaking international believes it is entirely possible that Kane will set his sights on Robert Lewandowski’s legendary Bundesliga record. The Pole scored an incredible 41 goals in the 2020/21 season, surpassing Gerd Müller’s decade-long record
While opinions differed widely on the subject of Kane, there was unanimity on one point. Both Hamann and Matthäus believe FC Bayern are clearly on course to become champions. The German record champions are marching confidently through the league and have already built up a comfortable lead
In the Champions League, however, there are once again differences of opinion, with Matthäus believing that Munich can win the big one, while Hamann believes that Paris Saint-Germain’s title defence is realistic and remains cautious about Bayern.
