Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an insight into the viral footage of he and Raphinha stemming from the aftermath of this weekend’s meeting with Deportivo Alavés.
Flick of course took his place centre stage in the media headlines over the last 48 hours.
As much comes after the German was left looking inconsolable in the aftermath of his side’s La Liga clash with Alavés.
Despite Barcelona emerging on the right side of a 3-1 result, Flick painted the picture of an utterly dejected figure, whilst sitting on the bench post-match.
So lost did the former Bayern Munich boss look, that Raphinha felt it necessary to step in, to check on his manager’s wellbeing.
Este video me ha dejado tocado. Qué le pasa a Hansi? Me preocupa porque lo defendería con mi vida.–
Speaking in his latest press conference on Monday, it therefore came as little surprise when the incident was put to Flick himself.
And the 60-year-old was characteristically honest in his response, explaining:
“My moment with Raphinha? Well, it was a funny thing, I don’t know who first described that I was sad in that clip, but I was frustrated. We lost a lot of balls, and I was also frustrated because we got two suspensions from the bench, so I had to turn around every time and ask my team to be calm. When we scored the third goal, Marcus Sorg got suspended. Marcus is my friend, and he’s the most important person to me on the staff, and part of my family.”
