Marc Casadó, 22, is understood not to be in Hansi Flick's plans for the new season, and Barcelona are open to a sale, with Benfica keeping tabs.
Sunderland and Nottingham Forest were the first to show interest, and, according to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig have now joined the race to try to sign the midfielder.
Barcelona want 40 million euros for Casadó, a figure that could complicate any move. The club are prepared to hear proposals if they can reach an agreement.
The Spain international is represented by Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, who is thought to be working on an exit from the Catalan side.
Benfica are following his situation. He fits a profile admired by their hierarchy and could offer future upside.
Casadó had been considered as cover for João Palhinha while that signing remained incomplete. With the Portugal international now confirmed, he is no longer an immediate priority, but he has not left Benfica's radar.
