Harry Gray has shaken off an injury scare and is in contention to extend his run of starts for Rotherham United when promotion-chasing Bolton Wanderers visit this weekend.
The Leeds United loanee was withdrawn on 70 minutes with a dead leg in the 1-0 loss to Huddersfield Town on Saturday, his earliest substitution since joining in January and only the second time he has not completed 90 minutes. “He’s fine. I think we did the right thing bringing him off. I didn't really want to, if I'm going to be honest, but leaving him on could have led to something a lot more extensive,” he told the Rotherham Advertiser.
A key starter under Matt Hamshaw, the 17-year-old has scored two League One goals in 11 appearances and has impressed with his dynamism at the New York Stadium. He has often been used on the left flank, an unnatural role, yet has continued to make an impact.
Gray signed his first professional contract in October and wants to build on his single senior outing for Leeds.
“I'm just a Leeds fan who happens to be a player.” He has also said: “Before I was in and around it, I'd go to every game. It's what I want to do, to play for Leeds. This is going to help me get there.”
