Leeds United youngster Harry Gray has bid farewell to Rotherham after a half-season loan, closing six months of senior football.

The player said in a post: "Thank u everyone @rotherhamunited for my time there all the best for the future".

Gray, 17, joined in January to gain EFL experience, starting 20 League One games and scoring three. Rotherham were relegated to League Two last month. He added an assist in Saturday's 3-2 final-day defeat at Wycombe Wanderers.

He struck twice in his first four outings, then a March hamstring strain sent him back to Thorp Arch for treatment. The striker missed around three weeks before rejoining the Millers in early April.

Head coach Matt Hamshaw had been sacked by then, but Gray continued to impress under Lee Clark. He scored in a 2-0 win over Leyton Orient, a result that only delayed the drop.

Throughout the loan he kept close to Leeds, spotted in the away end at Old Trafford for April's 2-1 win. He was also pictured at Wembley for the FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea.

He now returns to West Yorkshire for talks on next season. With Leeds all but securing Premier League safety after Friday's 3-1 win over Burnley, another loan could ensure his run of regular football continues.
