‘Has Told Tottenham’ – Spurs Star Makes Request, Roberto De Zerbi Understands | OneFootball

Pape Matar Sarr ‘has told Tottenham he wants to leave’ and Roberto De Zerbi has accepted the midfielder’s view, according to journalist Tom Allnutt.

Spurs are undergoing major changes this summer under De Zerbi, but did not make a positive start as they were thrashed 3-0 by Brentford in their opening Premier League game on Saturday evening.

De Zerbi started with Sandro Tonali and Lucas Bergvall in the engine room against the Bees, while Conor Gallagher also played from the off.

He made changes at half-time amid Spurs struggling, with Mateus Fernandes brought on to replace Gallagher and Rodrigo Bentancur replacing Bergvall.

Sarr was not in the matchday squad for the clash with Brentford.

The midfielder is being chased by Turkish giants Galatasaray, though a move to Istanbul is not yet advanced.

It has been claimed that Tottenham have told Sarr they will listen to offers for him this summer and that message did not go down well with the midfielder.

Now Sarr, having thought about his situation, has told Tottenham he wants to leave to make sure he gets more game time, which is likely to be lacking in north London.

De Zerbi understands and accepts the midfielder’s view, but while Galatasaray are an option for Sarr, he would rather stay in England.

There is interest in Sarr from unnamed Premier League sides, which could well open up a chance for the midfielder’s wish to be granted.

Tottenham will want to bring about his exit quickly as they focus on more additions of their own, especially in the final third.

Savinho is expected to join from Manchester City, despite a disappointing spell at the Etihad, while Omar Marmoush could then make the same journey.

De Zerbi continues to be keen on bringing in Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo, but that could depend on the Reds managing to pull off a deal for Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.

Liverpool are also interested in another PSG man in Ibrahim Mbaye, while they have had an offer for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh turned down.
