Tottenham Hotspur have told midfielder Pape Matar Sarr that they have made him available to be sold, but the message ‘did not go down well’ with the player, who is wanted by Galatasaray.
Spurs signed 23-year-old central midfielder in 2022 and he has been a regular in Tottenham’s midfield in recent seasons, accumulating 141 appearances so far for the club.
Sarr has four more years left on his contract with the London outfit, but it had been suggested that Tottenham will not block a summer transfer move for the Senegalese international if the right offer comes their way.
Tottenham are well stacked in the midfield area with the arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, while Lucas Bergvall is now expected to stay.
Turkish giants Galatasaray have emerged as suitors for Sarr in the ongoing window and it was claimed in Turkey that they have already managed to agree personal terms with the player regarding a move to Istanbul.

Whether that has happened or not is unclear though as Tottenham have only recently told Sarr that he is being made available to be sold.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the message from Spurs to Sarr ‘did not go down well’ and was the reason he deleted all posts relating to the club from social media.
Tottenham are continuing to hold talks with Galatasaray to try to find an agreement for Sarr to move to Istanbul, but the player appears to be less than happy.
Galatasaray are planning to go up to as high as €23m, including bonuses, for the midfielder and it remains to be seen whether that offer will be able to convince Spurs.

Even if the Turkish giants manage to agree to a deal with Tottenham for Sarr, it is understood that they will need to offload former Wolves star Mario Lemina first.
That could well open the door for other clubs to come in for Sarr now it is common knowledge he is up for sale.
Tottenham are currently focused on strengthening their attacking department and they are set to sign Savinho from Manchester City, but are still in pursuit of Omar Marmoush.
Spurs will begin their Premier League campaign against Brentford tonight and Roberto De Zerbi will be looking for a winning start to the season.
