Newport County have confirmed the appointment of Hayden Mullins as the club's new permanent manager following the departure of Christian Fuchs earlier this summer.

The former Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Portsmouth midfielder joins from Fulham, where he was in charge of the club's Under-21 side. Mullins replaces Fuchs, who stepped down in June after guiding Newport to League Two safety on the final day of last season.

Chris Todd has been in temporary charge throughout pre-season, overseeing friendlies against Bristol Manor Farm, Newport City, Gloucester City and Reading, and is expected to remain with the club.

Mullins now turns his attention to the start of the new campaign, with Newport facing AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup first round on 8 August before beginning their League Two season at home to Rochdale a week later.
