Jon McCracken kept Dundee in the game with smart saves from Lawrence Shankland as Hearts pressed.

After the restart, Derek McInnes turned to Shankland and Blair Spittal, and the Jambos carried more threat, with Spittal and Leonard both drawing stops from McCracken.

Frankie Kent received a second yellow and was sent off in the first minute of second half stoppage time.

Hearts registered 15 attempts and 56.8% possession. Dundee produced eight attempts with one on target.

Next, Hearts visit Livingston. Dundee host Celtic.
