Levante sporting director Héctor Rodas said on Wednesday in a press conference that Etta Eyong has chosen to stay despite late interest from Valencia, and the club accepts his decision.
According to Superdeporte, Valencia made a late enquiry on Tuesday after the failure to sign Marvin Ducksch, seeking a number nine before the deadline. Levante did not shut the door and set conditions, but the move never advanced because Eyong declined to go to their neighbours.
Rodas explained that an exit was possible for the Cameroonian given the club’s needs. He said they have to sell assets and that significant offers are hard to secure.
He added that the club tried to mediate, yet Eyong turned down proposals that would have helped Levante’s viability. His choice to remain is respected. Valencia asked for information, as did other teams.
Rodas therefore confirmed that bids arrived from Valencia and elsewhere, all rejected by the player, and no transfer took shape.
