Aston Villa Women will stage cup ties at Hednesford Town’s Keys Park this season under a new agreement, while Women’s Super League matches remain at Villa Park.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the non-league venue will act as a secondary ground for Women’s FA Cup and Subway Players Cup fixtures, subject to draws and scheduling.

Keys Park replaces Walsall’s Pallet Track Bescot Stadium as Villa’s second home.

The stadium holds around 6,000 and has seen major upgrades in recent years, including a state-of-the-art hybrid playing surface.

Hednesford chief executive Marvin Robinson called the deal a landmark for the club and an endorsement of its facilities and investment. He said bringing elite women’s football would benefit supporters and the wider community and inspire girls and young women.

Villa Women managing director Maggie Murphy praised the ongoing improvements at Keys Park. She reiterated that Villa Park remains the team’s home, and said the club are excited to establish a second base in Hednesford.

Coach travel between Villa Park and Keys Park, together with a shuttle from Hednesford railway station, will be available on matchdays if there is sufficient demand.

Villa are scheduled to make their Keys Park bow on August 30 when they host West Ham in a pre-season friendly.
