Henrik Larsson names the current Celtic star he would have loved to play alongside | OneFootball

Henrik Larsson has named Benjamin Nygren as the one player from the current Celtic squad he would have loved to play alongside.

The Parkhead legend returned to Scotland for the launch of his new book and was asked which member of Martin O’Neill’s current team he would choose as a teammate.

Larsson opted for fellow Swede Nygren, who was named Celtic’s Player of the Year last season after playing a major role in the club’s league and Scottish Cup double.

The attacking midfielder’s goalscoring contribution proved particularly important for the Hoops, and it appears his performances have also caught the eye of one of Celtic’s greatest-ever goalscorers.

Speaking to Celtic’s official social media channels, Larsson said when asked who he would have liked to play with: “I think I would’ve loved to play with Benji [Nygren].”

Larsson also discussed O’Neill, having enjoyed some of the greatest years of his Celtic career under the Northern Irishman during their first spell together at Parkhead.

The pair won three league titles, three Scottish Cups and a League Cup together, while also reaching the 2003 UEFA Cup final in Seville.

Asked what makes his former boss such a special manager, Larsson highlighted O’Neill’s ability to manage and motivate his players.

Larsson said of the legendary Celtic boss: “He’s a great manager. I mean, I can’t just say the one word or two words.

“He was good at man-managing, motivating the players in vital moments, getting players to understand how important this game is.

“I think that’s part of his best qualities.”
