There are just under two weeks remaining in the summer market, and the Owls have been one of the most active clubs throughout the last couple of months.

The Yorkshire outfit are under new ownership, with Arise Capital taking over at the beginning of May, taking the team out of administration.

The group led by David Storch have overseen the signing of 13 players, including the return of Barry Bannan from Millwall.

The midfielder ended his 10-and-a-half year stint with Sheffield Wednesday last January, but has returned for life in League One.

The third division side have until 1 September to complete any remaining business before the market shuts for the rest of the calendar year.

Pedersen has claimed that Sheffield Wednesday’s capacity to complete transfers is now very limited, even though there are still three positions he would like to strengthen in the next couple of weeks.

The Danish coach has suggested that the club are working hard to find solutions, as they seek a left-back, a right-winger and one other player before the deadline.

“We are very, very limited,” said Pedersen, via The Star.

“Now we try to see how with the group we have, where are the biggest needs.

“Of course, we know a right-winger, maybe a left-back, maybe one more position, but we are looking in these areas and then we'll see what is possible with the limited budget we have.”

Sheffield Wednesday have completed two loan signings already this summer, with Kieran Morrison expected to imminently make it three.

And while there are no limits to the number of temporary additions a club can make, only five can be included in a matchday squad, meaning it would be sensible for only two more to arrive before the window closes.

Sheffield Wednesday’s summer signings

Sheffield Wednesday began the window with the signings of Callum Slattery, Ricardo Santos and Jordi Liongola.

Bannan’s return was confirmed, with the midfielder returning as a free transfer from Millwall., with Billy Mitchell also making the switch from the Den as well.

The Owls completed deals with Aston Villa for Sil Swinkels and Louie Barry, with the pair both arriving on a permanent basis.

Joe Lumley, Tyler Onyango, Ashley Maynard-Brewer and Connal Trueman have completed permanent moves, while Mason Burstow and Harry Gray have arrived on loan.

Lumley, Swinkels, Liongola, Onyango, Bannan, Gray and Slattery all started the team’s 2-1 victory against Leyton Orient on the opening weekend of the new League One campaign, although Onyango went down injured after just 14 minutes and is now out long-term.

Sheffield Wednesday’s strong summer under the circumstances

Sheffield Wednesday’s new owners knew that they not only needed quality this summer, but they needed almost a whole new squad of players.

The first team had become depleted as a result of the financial issues, and it wouldn’t have been good enough to only add one or two over the summer.

The Owls have brought in a lot of quality under the restrictions that they have as a result of coming out of administration, and the win over Leyton Orient was quite promising.

If Sheffield Wednesday can bring in one or two more players before the market closes, then the club should be quite pleased with the business they’ve got done in the last couple months.
