Leeds United centre-back Sebastiaan Bornauw is expected to arrive in Germany today as he nears an exit from Elland Road to join Bundesliga side Hamburg.

The Whites signed Bornauw from Wolfsburg last summer for a fee of £5m, but he played a backup role under Daniel Farke during the last campaign.

Due to a lack of game time, he was open to a winter exit from Elland Road with the centre-back linked with a move back to Germany, but a move never materialised.

This summer Leeds have already brought in Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo and they have already agreed to a deal with Borussia Monchengladbach for another centre-back in Nico Elvedi.

Once again the Belgian defender is wanted in Germany, with Hamburg looking to replace ex-Spurs star Luka Vuskovic, who secured a £46m move to Brighton this summer.

With Elvedi closing in on a move, Leeds are waiting to offload Bornauw and Hamburg are looking to take him on a loan with the option to sign him in the summer.

Now it is suggested that Hamburg have managed to agree on a loan deal for the centre-back, with German daily the Hamburger Morgenpost declaring ‘he’s coming’.

The Leeds man will be undergoing his medical tests with Hamburg this Sunday and looking to come through them without an issue.

However, whether Hamburg have secured an option to buy in the loan agreement ‘is not yet known’.

Bornauw has so far featured 140 times in Bundesliga and if all goes right, the Leeds star will be hoping to impress for Hamburg over the course of this season.

Leeds have already seen a host of players leave Elland Road this summer and Bornauw will be the latest to join them, but their departure list could further extend.

Striker Joel Piroe is looking to go, though his £16m asking price is an issue, but it has been suggested Leeds could be open to loaning out Piroe with an obligation to buy in the ongoing window.

Lucas Perri also could see his transfer saga come to an end soon, as Torino want to see him travel to Turin this evening for his medical.

Leeds will begin their Premier League season next Saturday against Nottingham Forest and they will be keen to complete the Elvedi deal in time to make him available for the game.
