Leeds United’s rivals are busy in the market as the Whites shape their own squad. Hidemasa Morita is set for Hull City, Nottingham Forest are pursuing Ousmane Diomande, and Fulham are in talks over Gonzalo Garcia.

Japanese midfielder Morita is set to join Hull on a free. BBC Radio Humberside reports that an agreement is in place for the 31-year-old.

Leeds had been oddly linked to Morita earlier this summer, but the club and the player’s agent dismissed the rumour. He will visit Elland Road next season in Hull colours.

Forest are reportedly closing in on Sporting centre-back Diomande, with a €40m (£34m) package said to be close. He did not fit Leeds’ centre-back profile, and the club have instead agreed a £34m move for Tarik Muharemovic. If sealed soon, Diomande could debut against Leeds at the City Ground on Saturday 22 August.

Fulham have reportedly opened talks with Real Madrid over 22-year-old striker Garcia, led by new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. Madrid are open to a sale, though Jose Mourinho cannot promise a prominent role. The Cottagers need firepower after Raul Jimenez’s exit, top scorer Wilson’s move to Leeds, and Rodrigo Muniz’s injuries.

Leeds already have two signings in, have stepped back on Shea Charles amid a valuation gap with Southampton, and retain interest in James Trafford and Julian Brandt, whose father recently visited Thorp Arch.
