Marseille midfielder Himad Abdelli limped off injured while playing for Algeria against Burundi in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying on Tuesday.

According to L'Équipe, he went off just before half-time, limping heavily, and was helped from the pitch by two members of Algeria’s medical staff. Burundi led 2-1 at the break.

Abdelli had taken a knock to his left ankle. It appeared to follow a robust challenge and an awkward fall.

It follows a separate concern for OM, with Amine Gouiri having returned to Marseille after a left quadriceps issue during Algeria’s game against Zambia on Friday night, which finished 3-1.

This was the second physical setback involving an OM player with Algeria in recent days.
