Marseille duo Tadjidine Mmadi and Himad Abdelli latest to succumb to injury | OneFootball

Olympique de Marseille have not even played but they’re having a torrid international break. For their fans, who have seen their club lose five of their first six games in all competitions this season, the three-week break was meant as a moment to escape from their club’s struggles.

However, within days, news dropped of Derek Cornelius’ severe hip injury while away with the Canada national team. He is not expected to feature again until 2027. Amine Gouiri, away with the Algeria national team, has returned to OM after sustaining an injury and it is now the turn of his teammate at club and international level, Himad Abdelli, to come off with an injury.

The former SCO Angers playmaker was forced to hobble off the pitch just before half-time in the match against Burundi. Abdelli looked to have injured his left ankle. Meanwhile, Tadjidine Mmadi has also sustained an injury while away with the France U20s. Due to the lack of depth in the Marseille squad, he had earned minutes this season under Bruno Genesio. The gravity and nature of his injury has yet to be ascertained.
