Former FC Bayern München centre-back Holger Badstuber spoke to Transfermarkt regarding the moves that the reigning German champions made during the summer transfer window.

Badstuber, who made 119 appearances in a Bayern uniform between 2009 and 2017, was critical of the moves made by club management, particularly the departures.

“What did they want to do, what was the task? I have no insight,” Badstuber said. “With Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané, and Kingsley Coman, three world-class players have left. So far, Bayern have been unable to compensate for this in terms of quality.”

Regarding Luis Díaz, who arrived from Liverpool FC, Badstuber does not deny that he was a good addition: “I think he is a great player - I enjoyed watching him play at Liverpool. He has power and emotionality in his game; whether it was the perfect plan, I do not know.”

Regarding Nicolas Jackson and his late transfer, Badstuber said: “What kind of route do Bayern want to go? Do they want to seriously rely on youth in the next one or two years? Is this the plan? I do not know what the plan is for Bayern - that is what makes me curious.”
