Derby County are determined to keep Patrick Agyemang at the club amid interest from Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

Derby County have not received an offer for Patrick Agyemang, and they have no intention of selling the striker this month after he was linked with Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

The USA international only joined the Rams in the summer in an initial £5.9m deal, but he has justified that hefty investment with some big performances for John Eustace’s side.

Agyemang has scored seven goals and registered three assists this season, and his physicality has made him a crucial player for Derby with how he leads the line.

Derby County determined to keep hold of Patrick Agyemang amid Premier League interest

Therefore, it’s perhaps no surprise the 25-year-old is already attracting admirers from the top-flight, with reports claiming that Palace and Leeds could look to sign the striker this month.

Both Premier League clubs are looking to add a new striker in this window, and it was said that a fee in the region of £20m could be required to do a deal, which would represent a significant profit for Derby in a short space of time.

However, Derbyshire Live has emphatically dismissed the idea that Agyemang could depart Pride Park before the deadline.

They explain that no formal offers have been tabled for the ex-Charlotte man, whilst they crucially add that Derby are not open to bids for their key man, who they say is ‘not for sale’.

Derby County must do all they can to keep Patrick Agyemang this month

Obviously, every player has a price, so whilst Derby’s stance is understandable, we know that money talks.

But, it’s vital that the Midlands outfit stand firm on their valuation, and they must do all they can to ensure Agyemang is still their player when the window is shut.

The upturn in form recently means Derby are firmly in the hunt to reach the play-offs, and Agyemang is going to be pivotal if they are to finish in the top six this season.

In truth, you can’t imagine Derby are overly worried by this interest, as Agyemang appears to be loving life at the club, and he will know he is in a good place heading into the summer where he hopes to play for the USA at their home World Cup.

Clearly, if Agyemang keeps performing, this interest will continue, but the fact Premier League clubs are monitoring a Derby player should be taken as a compliment to the club, and a big sale in the future might be the right thing for the Rams as they try to kick-on.

So, it will be interesting to see how this plays out, but Derby seem confident of keeping Agyemang around in the short-term, and his only focus will be on scoring goals to try and help the team reach the play-offs.
