This revelation comes from journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon page, who has revealed that the Chelsea legend is content with the high-flying Sky Blues, and wants to see out promotion to the Premier League.

The Gers are hunting for a new boss after parting company with unpopular manager Russell Martin last week, having won just one game in their opening seven Scottish Premiership matches, and crashing out of the Champions League in the qualification stage.

This saw Lampard emerge as a shock contender for the job at Ibrox, having rejuvenated his career at Coventry, but according to Nixon, discussions between the two parties haven't even taken place.

Now, it seems the 47-year-old is set to stay with the Sky Blues, following an emphatic start to the season which has them more than in the race to finally secure that illusive promotion to the Premier League.

The Rangers job is certainly a mouth-watering prospect for any manager, as you get to manage an enormous club with a passionate fanbase that has the potential to be a powerhouse in a European competition.

However, it seems Coventry chief Lampard isn't tantalized by that option, as reports from Nixon suggest the Chelsea legend won't be heading north of the border to succeed Martin at Ibrox.

Lampard was touted to take the position last week, emerging as a shock contender along with former England midfield colleague Steven Gerrard, but has reportedly taken no interest in even discussing a potential switch to the Scottish giants.

According to Nixon, the Sky Blues' stunning start to the season has proven to be one of the main catalysts for his decision to remain at the CBS Arena, and the 47-year-old is keen to see out the job by finally winning the club promotion to the Premier League.

There is plenty of evidence in the modern game to suggest that loyalty is a trait that is lacking when it comes to managerial moves, but in a refreshing twist, it seems Lampard is keen to see out his job at Coventry, before potentially exploring other options.

The Sky Blues have given the ex-midfielder a chance to rebuild his career after difficult stints at Chelsea and Everton. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and now looks set to repay Doug King's faith by remaining in post, despite interest from Rangers.

We've seen far too many times managers jump at the first possible opportunity after a strong start to the season, often leaving their former club to drop off, and the manager themselves failing at their new job, so to see the opposite makes for a refreshing change.

This is also a massive relief for Coventry supporters, who finally have a strong chance at automatic promotion, and Lampard is a key component in making that happen, so keeping him despite external interest is quite possibly the biggest coup the Sky Blues could make all season.
