Jamie Vardy and Rebekah Vardy are believed to have a net worth of around £12m.

The current season was a strange one for Leicester City in the sense that it was the first time since the 2011/12 campaign that the Foxes did not have Jamie Vardy.

The £1m that Leicester spent to bring the striker in from non-league Fleetwood Town in May 2012 will be regarded as one of the best bits of business seen in modern football.

As we know, Vardy went on to establish himself as a legend at the King Power Stadium, with his goals central to their historic title win in 2016.

When you add in a starring role as Leicester won the FA Cup, a few promotions, 200 goals in a blue shirt, and many memorable moments, it’s fair to say the Midlands outfit won’t see another Vardy again.

So, it was always going to be a sad day when Vardy left the club, and that came last season, when it was announced that the striker would be moving on when his deal expired in the summer.

That didn’t spell the end of Vardy’s playing days, though, with the 38-year-old agreeing a deal with newly-promoted Serie A side Cremonese.

After a relatively slow start, with Vardy building his fitness after missing pre-season, it won’t surprise Leicester fans to see that their former number nine is becoming a firm favourite at his new club.

The ex-England international scored twice on Monday night as Cremonese beat Bologna, a result which leaves the team 11th in the table, and it means Vardy has four goals in nine appearances in the Italian top-flight.

The move to Cremonese was a surprise to many, as Vardy would’ve had some very attractive offers on the table, particularly from a financial perspective, with talk that there was interest from America and Saudi Arabia.

However, he clearly prioritised football by taking on his new challenge in a big league, and it’s perhaps easy to see why when you consider that Jamie and Rebekah are reported to have a net worth of around £12m.

The bulk of that is down to Vardy’s playing days, and he was rightly rewarded with some big contracts during his time at Leicester.

Whilst we don’t know the exact figures, it was rumoured that Vardy signed a four-year contract worth £100,000 a week in 2016 - which you could still argue was great value for Leicester! Of course, he had several other contracts during his time with the Foxes, even if the early deals were likely to be a fraction of that in comparison.

As well as that, Vardy’s profile brought plenty of endorsements along the way, as he was sponsored by Nike, and he then moved to Adidas later in his career. Plus, Vardy’s incredible story also meant he released an autobiography, and he has also set up a V9 academy, so his business portfolio has branched out.

Vardy’s wife Rebekah is also very successful in her own right, and she is well-known for her involvement in celebrity TV programmes, which have added to the net worth of the couple. She was involved with Dancing On Ice and I’m A Celebrity, and she has various other TV and commercial interests over the years which have raised her profile.

As it stands, Vardy’s contract with Cremonese is set to expire in the summer, but the club do have a one-year option if they stay up.
