Peterborough United are searching for a new manager after dismissing Luke Williams last weekend

Karl Robinson is keen to take over at Peterborough United following Luke Williams’ dismissal.

According to Talksport, the 46-year-old is interested in taking over the League One side just three months on from his exit from Salford City.

Williams was in charge of the Posh since last October, but departed at the weekend following a 2-0 loss to Doncaster Rovers.

The third division side are currently 23rd in the table after the opening seven games, having earned just five points.

Williams oversaw one win in seven games before being dismissed, with chairman and owner Darragh MacAnthony now seeking a replacement.

The club finished 18th in the previous campaign, and have been competing at this level since their Championship relegation in 2022.

It’s believed that Robinson is interested in taking charge at Peterborough, as he seeks a return to management.

The 46-year-old spent two-and-a-half seasons with Salford before departing last June after the team’s play-off defeat to Notts County.

Robinson has previously managed Oxford United, Charlton Athletic and MK Dons, and led the latter to the Championship in 2015 with a second place finish in League One.

It’s understood that MacAnthony is an admirer of the former Salford boss, but it remains to be seen whether he will be brought in as the next Peterborough head coach.

The Posh will be hoping to climb the League One table to steer clear of any potential relegation battle this season.

Williams’ side suffered defeats to Doncaster, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackpool and Bradford City in the opening weeks of the campaign, but did progress to the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

Their sole win in the league came against Mansfield Town on 22 August, with goals from Ben Woods and Harry Leonard sealing all three points.
