The English window shut at seven pm on Monday, but other markets remain open that could still shape Sunderland’s month. According to Sunderland Echo, the club explored a shock deadline loan for summer signing Simon Adingra to Monaco with an option to buy, and a move for 12-time Ecuador international Nilson Angulo from Anderlecht.

Domestic business is done, though clubs were allowed to file a deal sheet for brief extra time on near-complete deals. Germany, Italy and France closed alongside England, while Spain had until 10:59pm.

In Türkiye, clubs can trade until Friday, and the Super Lig’s big four, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Trabzonspor, often use that extra window.

Greece and Austria also run to Friday. The Eredivisie and Primeira Liga shut on Tuesday. Elsewhere, the Czech Chance Liga is open until 12 February, the Swiss Super League to 16 February, and Croatia’s 1. HNL to 17 February.

With game time limited for Romaine Mundle and Luke O’Nien, and Ian Poveda and Milan Aleksic among those currently surplus, Sunderland could turn to these leagues to shed wages and streamline Regis Le Bris’ squad.
