The 44-year-old's appointment in June brought a long-standing managerial search at Loftus Road to an eventual conclusion after the club placed former boss, Marti Cifuentes, on gardening leave prior to the end of last season's Championship campaign, well in advance of the Spaniard's eventual move to divisional rivals, Leicester City.

Rangers have become part of the furniture in the second-tier in the past decade, with the West London club rarely showing signs of consistently looking to end their decade-long exile from the Premier League after relegation in 2015, often finishing in a mid-table position amid well-documented financial constraints.

After failing to hit such heights under Cifuentes despite a strong initial first half-season in W12 during which the Hoops staved off the threat of returning to League One for the first time in 21 years, there is hope that Stephan can be the man to make Rangers a competitive second-tier force in the long run, despite enduring an extremely mixed start to his tenure.

Across recent years, it has become a hot topic of discussion among supporters as to how a club fully conducts their transfer activity due to a plethora of roles among the hierarchy.

As such, several figures are involved in fulfilling said roles in West London, Stephan has revealed how his first transfer window in English football panned out.

Rangers' squad has undergone a major transformation in comparison to the one which finished last term in 16th place, with Stephan recruiting 10 new signings and overseeing 11 departures.

Speaking to QPR-based news outlet, Loft For Words, during the recently concluded first international break of the campaign, the former Rennes and RC Strasbourg boss clearly outlined his role in proceedings alongside the likes of Lee Hoos and Christian Nourry, who are owner and Chief Executive officer, respectively.

"My role is very clear and very simple. I spoke during the transfer window every day with the recruitment department, with the CEO, and we spoke every day about the profile of players," Stephan said.

"We have the profile, and then we have the budget. The budget is not for me. We try to do our best with our budget. I try to be clear with the profile. Okay, I'd like to have this kind of player in this position with these particular attributes," he added.

"After that the management, the owners, they try to do their best with our budget. So it's very simple and very clear. All the players who sign here I always have a meeting with them to present how we want to play, how we want to develop them in the squad, and to explain to them how we want to use them on the pitch."

"After that, if it's okay with the budget, we can sign them. If it's not okay with the budget, we try to find another player with the same profile. It's easy," the Rangers boss claimed.

It has been a mixed start to the campaign for Stephan, who recorded his maiden victory in charge last time out with a 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic at Loftus Road.

The returning Koki Saito opened his account for the season against the Addicks, whilst fellow standout capture, Richard Kone, also netted his first home goal for the club after opening his R's account in the 7-1 defeat at Coventry City on August 23rd.

The Frenchman will hope that his side have now had a further two weeks to gel with his methods and principles after picking up four points in as many games, as they return to action against newly-promoted Wrexham on Saturday afternoon, looking for a first away win of the season.
