Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß has been deeply affected by Jamal Musiala’s recent collapses on the pitch.

After Musiala collapsed during Bayern’s 3-1 Telekom Cup win over RB Leipzig at the weekend, a similar incident occurred in Tuesday’s 4-2 friendly victory over 1. FC Heidenheim.

He also made it clear that he remains “optimistic” about his treatment and his career going forward, stating that there is “no further health risk” associated with the absences.

While Hoeneß has been aware of Musiala’s diagnosis for some time, seeing the issue manifest itself on the pitch came as a shock to him.

“Seeing it happen again four days later really shocked me,” Hoeneß told RTL, adding that he was at a loss for words when he subsequently received a call about the latest incident.

“I was speechless, which is rare enough for me.”

The 74-year-old went on to underline just how much the situation is affecting him.

“I go to bed thinking of him and wake up in the morning thinking of him,” Hoeneß revealed, making it clear that the entire club is behind the Germany star.

“There is unconditional support for Jamal,” he stressed.
