'I'm a player fans come to see' - Crysencio Summerville's first Al Hilal interview | OneFootball

Crysencio Summerville is one of the standout signings of the 2026-27 summer transfer window thus far, with the Netherlands international joining Al Hilal last week on a four-year deal.

The former West Ham United wideman, who shone at the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup, sat down with the Roshn Saudi League club’s official media to explain the move, his objectives, and what Al Hilal fans can expect from one of Europe's real wing wizards.

On his Al Hilal targets

“I have high ambitions. I think like everyone, I want to become champions of the league, want to win the [AFC Asian] Champions League. Every cup that we can win, I hope we can.

“And, for me as an individual, I hope I can help the team with many, many nice moments - goals, assists - and get to have the fans come to the stadium for us.”

On why he chose Al Hilal

“Very happy to sign for Al Hilal, the biggest club in the Pro League. So yeah, I'm happy to be here, first of all.

“There were many things. For me, it was a bit of a roller coaster. But yeah, if a club like Al Hilal comes, you're going to think twice about everything. It's a big honour from the trust from everyone at the club to rate me, to be interested in me.

“So, obviously, I thought about it, and I'm a feeling person and this felt the good feeling for me. So now I'm here.”

On what he knows of the club

“I watched Al Hilal closely in the [2025 FIFA] Club World Cup. I watched them there and there I saw the level you guys play at - competing against the best teams in the world. That surprised me a lot.”

On what fans can expect

“I love to hear [their support] because I'm a type of player that fans and people come to the stadium to watch play. Because when I was growing up my idol was Neymar. And for someone like this, you come to the stadium.

“So I was always thinking in my head like this. When I come to a new club, it's a new challenge for me. I will give my all and hopefully all the fans will enjoy my game.”

On a new experience in Saudi

“There is a new city, so I'm excited to see new things, to see the culture of Riyadh. The club Al Hilal, I know it's very big, many fans all over the world. So I'm excited to meet the fans, to see the culture there, and to see Riyadh the city, to explore with my family.”

On his 2026 FIFA World Cup

“That was an amazing feeling. It was my first time ever with a Dutch squad and to be in the World Cup is a dream for every young kid. So to be there and to be in the first 11, it's just a dream that came true.

“And I was happy - very happy - to score two goals and give two assists and help the team.”

“Just that I'm very excited to be here, that I can't wait to wear the kit and to meet all the fans, all the people at the club and the fans at the stadium. So I'm very excited. I can't wait.”
