It was thought that Roberto De Zerbi’s future at Marseille would be secured for the summer, after the club and the Italian agreed to continue their commitment together after talks with owner Frank McCourt in the US last month. But a report from Giunluca Di Marzio put the spanner in works late last night, with the Italian journalist reporting that Inter Milan have sounded out De Zerbi. Di Marzio has interestingly revealed that the Italian possesses a release clause in his deal with OM that could ease any potential departure – yet the Italian would require significant assurances over Inter’s transfer strategy and is reportedly only willing to join if the squad undergoes significant renewal in line with his philosophy. The former Brighton manager had an immediate response today, whilst speaking to Italian press gathered during a ceremony where he was made an Honory Citizen of Foggia, where he managed from 2015-2016. As transcribed by Foot Mercato the Italian said “I’m happy in Marseille and I haven’t received any calls from other clubs,” when asked about potential interest from Inter. “I didn’t watch the Champions League final between Inter and PSG because I was with my daughter at the Vasco Rossi concert at the Olympic Stadium in Turin.”Di Marzio did also report that Como manager Cesc Fabregas has also been sounded out in case of a potential departure of Simon Inzaghi – who oversaw Inter’s 5-0 loss in the Champions League final to PSG last Saturday. Inter have not yet definitively decided on Inzaghi’s future. GFFN | George Boxall
