The Magpies head to Leverkusen on Wednesday, 10th December for a 9pm kick-off (local time), with stadium turnstiles opening from 7pm. UK Kick-off time is 8pm.

We recommend fans familiarise themselves with the government's travel advice for Germany. This can be found here. There are no specific areas of Leverkusen, Cologne or Dusseldorf that Newcastle United fans are advised to avoid. The official currency of Germany is the Euro.

PASSPORT VALIDITY AND EUROPEAN ENTRY/EXIT SYSTEM (EES)

Supporters are advised that passports must:

  1. have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive – if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago
  2. have an ‘expiry date’ at least three months after the date you plan to leave the Schengen area (the expiry date does not need to be within 10 years of the date of issue)

As of 12th October 2025, the European Union’s (EU) new Entry/Exit System (EES) will begin. This may result in longer entry times to pass through immigration. Full details can be found here.

The nearest hospital to Bay Arena is Klinikum Hospital and it is located 5km away from the stadium.

SAFETY IN GERMANY

Street crime, including pickpocketing, can take place in German cities. Supporters are advised to be vigilant, take sensible precautions and ensure they have valid travel insurance.

GETTING TO BAY ARENA

Supporters should arrive at Bay Arena early to proceed through search processes upon entry to the stadium. Supporters should plan their journey and arrive no later than one hour before kick-off. General information regarding getting to the Bay Arena can be found here.

Train

Supporters can take the train to Leverkusen from Dusseldorf and Koln Haptbahnhof stations and both Journeys take between 15 & 20 minutes to reach Leverkusen Mitte station.

Supporters are advised to arrive into Leverkusen Mitte station as this is considerably easier for access to the away section. Further Information can be found here.

If travelling from KOLN – you can take the RE1 OR S6 form Koln Haptbahnhof to Leverkusen Mitte.

Train Tickets

Regional and Local Trains are free to use for the fixture with a valid match ticket and an ÖPNV KombiTicket. Follow this link to enter your ticket number to retrieve your transport ticket.

If you have ordered several tickets, a separate ÖPNV KombiTicket must be activated for each ticket, via the respective ticket number.

The KombiTicket is valid from four hours before the start of the game until 03:00 the following day in all public transportation services of VRS and VRR (2nd class).

The ticket is not transferable. KombiTickets are only available for Bayer 04 Leverkusen home games.

Taxi

For supporters getting dropped off by taxi at the stadium, there is no designated drop off point for away fans.

Parking

There is no standard parking available at the Bay Arena.

ON ARRIVAL AT BAY ARENA

Entrance for Newcastle United supporters is via Gate G & SG (See Map below). On arrival there will be a turnstile ticket scan for all supporters, followed by a proper body search (by Stewards) and there will also be a bag check during this stage. Bags must be below A4 in size or they will not be permitted in to the stadium. There is storage available at the stadium, and this is located directly to the left of the away entrance in a red container. It will cost 1 EUR per item and this is CASH ONLY.

Newcastle United Ticketing staff will also be at this location, inside the red container, should you require any support. Tickets for this fixture will be digital and sent to supporters in advance of the fixture. A Newcastle United Stewarding Team will be located around the entry to the away turnstiles and in the away section should you require any assistance at any stage.

Once inside the stadium, Newcastle United fans will be housed over two levels. Two blocks in the upper tier and three blocks in the lower tier. All supporters will enter via the same entrance and share the same concourse on the lower tier. Supporters with tickets in the upper tier can only access this via stairs and these stairs are located to the right of the kiosks. There is an additional kiosk on the upper tier. It is forbidden to smoke in the stadium. There is no prayer room at the Bay Arena.

PROHIBITED ITEMS AT BAY ARENA

Below is a list of prohibited items for Bay Arena:

  • All drinks (bottle, glass, cans, purchased outside the stadium.)
  • Powerbanks
  • Selfie poles, laptops, tablets, cameras with interchangeable lenses, video and/or audio recording devices, GoPro or similar cameras and drones (only compact cameras without removable lenses are permitted).
  • Banners, insignia, badges, leaflets or any other material intended to be seen by third parties for political, ideological, philosophical or commercial purposes or of a racist or xenophobic nature.
  • Large umbrellas with a pointed metal section.
  • All types of pyrotechnic objects: flares, flammable or explosive materials, fireworks, torches, firecrackers, etc.
  • Any type of drugs (Marijuana included)
  • Any dangerous object that could cause bruising or cuts: firearms, bladed weapons, sticks, chains, striking weapons, piercing weapons or stabbing weapons, etc.
  • Laser pens

FLAG POLICY AT BAY ARENA

Supporters can bring their own flags to the stadium, but they must have a fire safety certificate and must not have any offensive, political or discriminatory words or images on them. All flags will be checked on entry to the stadium.

KIOSKS AT BAY ARENA

Alcohol will be available inside the stadium alongside a range of other concessions. Please note that Bay Arena is a cashless stadium. Credit and Debit cards can be used at the kiosks. Apple pay, google pay are also available. For supporters who do not have a credit or debit card they will need to upload cash on to a Bayer Leverkusen club card, this can be done to the left of the concession stalls pictured above. This card can then be used at the kiosks. All drinks are sold in cups that cost €2.00. These can be returned at the end of the game, and your money will also be returned.

IF REFUSED ENTRY TO THE GAME

If, for whatever reason, supporters are refused entry to the game, they are advised, in the interests of safety, to return to the city centre of Leverkusen, Koln or Dusseldorf.

FOLLOWING THE GAME

There is no planned holdback following the fixture. This remains at the discretion of the local authorities and if this changes an in-stadium announcement will be made. There will be trains from Leverkusen Mitte to Koln and Dusseldorf following the game. when exiting the stadium turn right and follow the river to the train station.

INFORMATION FOR DISABLED SUPPORTERS

Supporters with wheelchair accessible tickets should enter via gate H3, this is in close proximity to the away section. There will be a member of the Newcastle United Accessibility and Stewarding team on hand to support and assist you when you arrive at gate H3 to enter.

There is no storage available for wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility support equipment and there is no lift access to the upper tier of the away section.

There is audio-descriptive commentary service provided by the home club for this game however this is only available in German.

The regional trains in Germany, from both Koln and Dusseldorf are wheelchair accessible.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS AND VIEWING PLATFORM

All wheelchair accessible tickets are located to the right of the away section. The entry process is via Gate H3 (See Map Below). The viewing platform will be a mixture of home fans and Newcastle United Supporters. Fans are advised to arrive 90 minutes before kick-off for a smoother entry procedure.

In the location of the wheelchair access seats the position of the personal assistant seat is located behind wheelchair user seating locations.

There are accessible toilets in close proximity to the wheelchair viewing area. Please note that these toilets do not have a hoist. The wheelchair viewing area is covered and not impacted by weather, however the entrance procedure is open to the elements.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING AT BAY ARENA

There is specific accessible parking available for fans requiring easy access to the stadium for accessibility needs. This parking is in close proximity to the accessible entrance but will require advance notice.

Fans requiring this parking should email accesibility@nufc.co.uk no later than Wednesday, 3rd December. Please include your supporter number, name of the driver and the vehicle number plate along with a copy of your blue badge (This a request of the host club).

MEDICAL INFORMATION

There is a medical room at the stadium, and the stewards will be able to direct you there if required.

FAN MEETING POINT IN LEVERKUSEN/KOLN

There is no designated fan meeting point in Koln, Dusseldorf or Leverkusen for this fixture.

Koln and Leverkusen are expected to be incredibly busy over the period of our fixture due to both cities hosting Christmas markets. Therefore, supporters are advised by the local authorities not gather on mass in the streets of either city and in turn find local pubs, bars and restaurants in each city prior to the game.

BAYER 04 LEVERKUSEN U19’s v NEWCASTLE UNITED U19’s

This UEFA Youth League fixture will be played at the Ulrich-Haberland Stadion with a 14.00 kick off. This stadium is located directly next to the Bay Arena and travel information is listed above.

This is not a ticketed fixture, and supporters are welcome to go to the fixture on the matchday.
