In Cotia, under-20s begin Copa do Brasil with a thrashing

São Paulo’s U-20 team got off to a flying start in their quest for a third Copa do Brasil title in the category and their sixth overall trophy in the competition. Tricolor thrashed Santo Antônio-MS 13-1 at CFA Laudo Natel in Cotia. The goals were scored by João Costa (4), Igão (3), Gustavo Miranda (2), Bezerra, Léo, Matheus Menezes, and Angelo.

The U-20 side confirmed their favoritism right from the opening minutes. In the 10th minute, Marvin delivered a perfect corner for João Costa to open the scoring. Three minutes later, Angelo set up João Costa for another. A minute after that, Lucyan was the provider, crossing for Gustavo Miranda to get his goal.

Midway through the first half, in the 25th minute, João Costa scored again to complete his third goal of the match. Four minutes later, Lucyan broke into the box again and this time set up Igão, who scored the fifth. Shortly after, in the 31st minute, Marvin took another corner and Igão popped up again to score. Five minutes later, João Costa held the ball up and laid it off for Bezerra, who finished to make it seven. Before the break, João Costa found the net again in the 40th minute, scoring his fourth of the match and São Paulo’s eighth. In the closing minutes of the first half, the visitors pulled one back from the penalty spot.

One minute into the second half, Igão completed his hat-trick. In the 13th minute, Gustavo Miranda scored the tenth. In the 33rd, Lucyan passed to Léo, who got on the scoresheet as well. Ten minutes later, Matheus Menezes also made his mark, and in the 45th minute Angelo scored.
