A new winner will be crowned for February’s Arkema Première Ligue player of the month, with Inès Benyahia, Romée Leuchter and Mathilde Bourdieu shortlisted.
According to Le Progres, voting runs until Sunday 8 March via the APL’s social channels. The trio represent OL Lyonnes, PSG and Olympique de Marseille respectively.
Benyahia, 22, could follow team-mate Jule Brand, who took the November award. The Lyon midfielder’s form has surged at a pivotal stage.
The month began with Leuchter scoring and assisting in PSG’s 3-0 win over Paris FC on 7 February. A day later, Bourdieu struck four in OM’s 4-2 victory at Strasbourg. On 20 February, Leuchter added a hat-trick in a 3-0 defeat of Lens.
Benyahia underlined her rise in the 4-0 derby on 8 February, captaining OL Lyonnes for the first time. She curled a direct free-kick past the Stéphanoises for the opener just before the interval.
Leuchter is on 10 goals, one ahead of Bourdieu in the elite scorers’ standings.
