Huge blow for the Cherries as key midfielder likely sidelined until December
Alex Scott has withdrawn from the England squad with an injury which will leave the Bournemouth star sidelined for around two months.
Scott suffered a quadricep injury during Saturday’s 7-0 win over Croatia, which was his first senior start for the Three Lions, having days earlier come off off the bench against Czech Republic to make his debut.
The Bournemouth midfielder was replaced by James Garner after 70 minutes in Rijeka, but there was no indication that he had picked up an injury.
Scott, who has been a key player for Bournemouth this season, will continue to be assessed, but reports suggest he could be sidelined for up to two months.
Scott joins Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi on the treatment table after he underwent surgery on a foot injury in July.
Despite making 95 appearances for Bournemouth since signing from Bristol City in 2023, Scott has enjoyed a breakthrough year and attracted strong interest from Chelsea over the summer.
The Blues saw multiple bids rejected for the 23-year-old during the recent transfer window and are expected to reignite their interest either in January or next summer.
After opening their Nations League campaign with a 3-2 defeat at home to Spain, England have bounced back with successive victories against Czech Republic and Croatia.
Their 7-0 hammering of Croatia was their largest win against a top-ranked opponent and the heaviest defeat in Croatia's history.
