Valencia have suffered six injuries across the first five league games, losing a player in every match. According to AS, this has hurt performance, though it is not the club’s only issue.

The first to fall was De Haas, who left the opener against Celta de Vigo with a sprain of the lateral complex in his right ankle, missing four rounds. He made the squad for Sevilla and could return on Tuesday against Alavés.

In the second game against Betis, Rioja ended with ankle pain and Guido Rodríguez with a right quadriceps injury. Neither has returned to a squad, though the Argentine seems closer as he shortens his recovery.

Sadiq could not finish away to Deportivo after muscle pain became a hamstring injury in his right leg. The Nigerian forward avoided surgery but faces two months out.

Over the past two fixtures the defence has suffered. Diakhaby has a long adductor injury in his left leg and will be out for months, and he is injury prone, struggling to string together more than three full games. Tárrega was injured against Sevilla and is not expected back until after the break.

Diego López, Copete, Foulquier and Sergi Canós have also been sidelined since before the summer. Valencia have the most injuries in LaLiga at this stage. Corberán has avoided blaming the medical staff, while accepting something is not working. He says the team are held back by lost personnel, which has given him some leeway amid scrutiny.
