Valencia star expected to miss several weeks through injury

La Liga outfit Valencia look set to be without a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks for at least the next few weeks. This comes amid fears surrounding the wellbeing of Mouctar Diakhaby.

Stopper Diakhaby was for his part in from the off on Sunday, as Valencia welcomed Hansi Flick’s Barcelona to Mestalla for a La Liga clash.

En route to an eventual 5-0 drubbing for Los Che, though, the Guinea international was forced off just beyond the hour mark with what appeared to be a muscular problem.

Diakhaby, in turn, sat out training at the Paterna training centre on Monday. And if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then those of a Valencia persuasion should not expect to see their side’s defensive stalwart back on the pitch any time soon…

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘While awaiting medical tests and a definitive diagnosis, Valencia sources indicate that it is a significant injury. The initial prognosis is that Diakhaby could be sidelined for several weeks, although the exact recovery period will not be known until the medical evaluation is complete.’
