CD Castellón are completing their pre-season camp at the Royalverd Training Center in Les Preses, La Garrotxa, Girona, a high-performance base that runs until tomorrow. El Periódico Mediterráneo notes the set-up is designed to keep focus solely on football.
Pre-season results so far keep Pablo Hernández’s side unbeaten, with a 2-0 win over CE Sabadell at La Coma, then a 1-2 victory at Valencia in Paterna, before a 3-3 draw with Girona during the camp. Today brings the fourth outing, against Deportivo Alavés at 10.30, behind closed doors and expected on Alavés’ YouTube unless plans change.
The club also used Royalverd last season. Purpose-built for elite teams, it sits inside the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa and offers FIFA-sized natural-grass pitches. Royalverd, which owns the site, has laid the turf at La Coma and numerous top-flight and international venues.
On site are a full gym, physiotherapy and recovery areas, spaces for activation and treatment, and meeting rooms for analysis. The Hotel Vall de Bas is integrated within the complex, keeping travel minimal and maximising rest, with team-adapted rooms, an exclusive dining room and shared spaces.
The centre’s exclusivity has drawn Valencia, Girona and Barcelona B, among others, and sessions are shielded from outside attention. Conditions are often cooler than in la Plana at this time of year. Hernández says time together in the hotel, at meals and in free time helps forge a team and a family.
