National Police seize more than 7,000 fake Spain shirts in Chinese-run Castellón bazaar | OneFootball

The National Police have seized more than 7,000 allegedly counterfeit Spain shirts during an inspection this week at a Chinese-run bazaar in Castellón.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, agents from the force’s Immigration Brigade found a large stock imitating the national team’s kit inside the premises.

All the items were taken from a single shop in the provincial capital, an unusually high haul for one location. The action comes amid strong demand for football shirts and a rise in imitations following the World Cup, which was won by the side managed by Luis de la Fuente.

The Castellón operation follows a summer of intensified checks in the city and in the province’s main tourist towns against the sale of suspected counterfeits and ‘top manta’.

In August, several actions on the Castellón coast targeted Orpesa and Peñíscola, with more than 1,000 items seized in Orpesa and a similar number in Peñíscola. In a separate coastal operation, the Guardia Civil removed more than 1,700 products from illegal sale.

Early in September, a further 900 items were seized in Peñíscola, underlining the continued clampdown across the province.
