Work on Valencia’s Nou Mestalla is accelerating, with 50 pillars now installed to carry a 70-metre cantilevered roof. The revived project targets a 2027 opening and could support hopes of hosting in 2030.

Ground was first broken in 2007, then the site lay dormant from 2009 to 2025 before resuming. As reported by AS, the 38-metre, 30-tonne pillars arrived from Arteixo, Galicia, and the roof is the centrepiece.

Director general Javier Solís said signals suggest the stadium will be important for 2030 and he is very optimistic. He added the venue will honour city and club history and even voiced a wish to open it in Europe, saying there is time to turn results.

Capacity will be 70,044, split between 22,007 lower, 14,675 middle including 1,973 in boxes and hospitality, and 31,389 upper. The club estimates Fair Play could improve by about 20 million, and the upper tier alone exceeds 10 LaLiga grounds.

A bowl design and symmetric lines aim for clear sightlines, while a 36 degree rake, the maximum currently permitted by FIFA, should keep the pressure. The venue is planned for year round use.

Architect Beatriz Plaza detailed a museum, three pitch-view restaurants and an auditorium that will serve as the press room on matchdays. There will be 6,500 hospitality seats, two Atitlán-built towers, and business chief Franco Segarra said several hospitality products are sold out.

As Javier Aguirre seeks to lift the side in LaLiga, Valencia are preparing the move and target about 50,000 season ticket holders. Solís said the cheapest new pass will be cheaper than at Mestalla and the most expensive will also be lower, with prices due next week.
