Gabriel Paulista’s Corinthians future is in doubt after a knee injury that could keep him out for about two months, with his contract due to expire in three months.

According to Superdeporte, the 35-year-old joined in January 2026 after spells with Valencia, Atlético Madrid and Besiktas. He returned to fulfil a long-held wish to wear the Corinthians shirt, and would have stayed at Mestalla if it had been his choice.

Far from a bit-part role, by early September he ranked fifth in the squad for minutes, logging 3,624 across 39 official matches. He had not reached that volume since the 2019/20 season with Valencia.

Back in Brazil, he also needed time to adapt. He acknowledged recently he had been playing through discomfort and a heavy run of fixtures and travel, then the momentum stopped.
