Valencia will learn their Copa del Rey first-round opponents on Monday five October, when the draw takes place at 13:00 in the Salón Luis Aragonés at the Ciudad del Fútbol. The federation announced that it will set 56 pairings for the opening round of the 123rd edition.

Of the 116 clubs participating, 112 enter at this stage, while FC Barcelona, Real Sociedad, Real Madrid CF and Atlético de Madrid begin in the round of 32 as Supercopa de España participants. Valencia CF, Levante UD, Elche CF and Villarreal CF will all discover their first opponents.

The draw will follow geographic proximity, matching, as far as possible, lower-tier clubs with higher-tier opponents that advanced from the previous round. Entrants will be placed into as many pots as competitive levels remain in the tournament.

The final make-up of the geographic groups will be set after the preliminary round second legs on Saturday three and Sunday four October, which will produce 10 territorial-category teams to complete the first round.

All 56 first-round ties are scheduled for 27, 28 and 29 October, and will be played at the ground of the lower-division club, provided minimum RFEF criteria are met. For ties between clubs in the same division, home advantage goes to the team drawn first. The event will be shown live on the RFEF’s official channels.
