Wrexham are gearing up for deadline day after Ryan Reynolds announced a transfer budget. There is still work to do before the window shuts.

Wales Online notes the Red Dragons often leave business late, with three deadline-day signings in summer. Ben Sheaf, Dom Hyam and Issa Kabore helped establish them in the division.

This window has centred on exits, with captain James McClean to Derry City and Jake Bickerstaff to Cheltenham Town permanently. Loans have taken Conor Coady to Charlton Athletic, Andy Cannon to Burton Albion and Paul Mullin to Bradford City. Defender Zak Vyner became the first incoming on Sunday from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.

At least one wing-back appears certain to arrive. Kabore and Liberato Cacace have impressed when fit, but hamstring issues have hit availability, and they have not started together since a 0-0 draw at Portsmouth on November 5.

Right-sided options include Swedish prospect Hampus Skoglund of Hammarby IF. Sheffield Wednesday’s Yan Valery is reportedly under consideration as the cash-strapped club seeks sales, with Kosta Nedeljkovic, Idrissa Toure and Terry Devlin also linked.

Wrexham missed out on a club-record move for teenager Sidiki Cherif of Angers FC after the £19m-rated striker chose Fenerbahce. Focus could turn to forwards, with Barnsley’s Davis Keillor-Dunn frequently linked amid talk of a late bid, and Ipswich’s Sammie Szmodics also of interest.

Elliot Lee could leave on loan amid limited minutes. Ryan Hardie may also depart on loan, with Bolton considering a move, but only if a replacement arrives first.
