Inter Academy New England: the internship in Milano | OneFootball

A special week, filled with emotion and unforgettable moments. The internship in Milano for around twenty youngsters from Inter Academy New England has come to an end, after giving them the chance to experience a week immersed in the Nerazzurri world. The programme took place from Saturday 18 April to Friday 24 April, with the participants embracing every moment of the experience that saw them take centre stage throughout the week.

The week reached an early high on Tuesday 21 April. The group attended the Coppa Italia semi-final at San Siro, where Inter faced Como in a thrilling match that ended in celebration as the Nerazzurri completed a dramatic late comeback. Their experience at the stadium, however, began long before kick-off. The youngsters took part in an organised walkabout inside the Meazza, giving them the chance to explore several areas of the stadium before enjoying the pre-match build-up and watching the stands gradually turn Nerazzurri. They then witnessed the full ninety minutes of Inter vs Como, experiencing all the drama the match had to offer, before joining in the celebrations for the victory and the team’s qualification for the Coppa Italia final.

Throughout the week, the youngsters took part in intensive training sessions at the KONAMI Football Centre, working under the guidance of coaches from the Inter Academy network. A special surprise arrived at the end of the session on the morning of Wednesday 22 April. Joining the group on the Academy pitch were Giuseppe Prestia, captain of the Inter U23s, and fellow defender Francesco Stante. The players spent time with the youngsters, answering their questions and sharing a few moments together on the pitch, creating another memorable experience during the week in Milano.

The final activity of the week took place on Friday, bringing the experience to a close with a true immersion in the Nerazzurri world. Before saying goodbye to Milano, the youngsters were welcomed at Inter HQ, the beating heart of the club, where they enjoyed a special and exclusive Trophy Tour. During the visit, they had the opportunity to discover the history and major triumphs of Inter Milan up close. To round off the experience, the group also met Nerazzurri legend Francesco Toldo. The former Inter goalkeeper spent time with the youngsters and accompanied them during part of the tour of Inter HQ, making the final moments of their week in Milano even more memorable.
