The Derby della Madonnina between Inter and Milan at San Siro is once again poised to make history: this time at the box office.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, Inter Milan are on course to record a new all-time attendance and revenue record for Italian football in Sunday’s match.
Last season’s league meeting between the two clubs generated €7,626,430 from 75,366 spectators.
Therefore, it was the highest single-match income ever recorded in Italy.
This weekend’s edition is expected to surpass even that figure.
Indeed, all available tickets are sold amid demand from supporters both in Italy and abroad.

Beyond the financial milestone, attention also turns to the atmosphere inside San Siro.
Following the “Doppia Curva” investigation and the recent end to fan protests.
The question now is whether supporters will unveil the traditional derby choreographies.
“Will we see another of Milan’s historic displays of colour, or will the stands be limited to banners and flags?” asks Gazzetta.
For now, no final decision has been announced.
However, optimism remains that both sets of ultras will deliver a spectacle fitting for one of world football’s grandest rivalries.
It also marks the first derby since the San Siro project was given the green light to go ahead.
